Summary: | Direct lightning strikes on the building can cause physical damage. Moreover,
indirect lightning strikes can also cause damage as the effect of electromagnetic
field. As the result, the electrical system especially sensitive electronic equipment on
the building can be disturbed. This final project concerns about lightning current
distribution measurement in the conductive parts of building as the effect of
lightning strike. The lightning current is modeled by impulse current from impulse
generator. Building as the object lightning strikes is modeled by conductive parts.
All of the conductive parts are assumed to be perfectly connected. Current
measurement use simple method that is by using shunt resistor and oscilloscope.
This research is started by making impulse generator that like lightning current
characteristic. This research is continued by resistive and inductive load experiments
and return path effect experiment. For comparison of impulse current distribution
measurement, this research is simulated by PSpice Software. All conductive parts are
modeled by resistive and inductive circuit model.
From the result of experiments, we get the conclusion that impulse impedance of the
resistive load is determined by the value of resistance itself. In other case, inductive
load have big effect for the value of impulse impedance. Moreover, return path that
used in this research give the effect because its impedance. From this research on
building model structure object, we get unmatched result with simulation result.
There are conductive parts that not perfectly connected. From the simulation result,
impulse current distributed to all conductive parts depend on the distance that part
from injection point. |
