Description
Summary:engaged in copper mining and processing. Copper processing at PT AMNT using flotation process to obtain the final product in the form of copper concentrate, which will be sold to copper smelters. PT AMNT has a cleaner circuit for increase the copper grade from tailing column flotation. copper recovery in cleaner circuit needs to be increased. in this research will be examined injection collector in the first cleaner with two type of collector pax and dithiophosphate (primary collector), at certain dosage to find optimum dosage for copper recovery. The research begins with preparation slurry from first cleaner feed until it is ready to flotation process. the preparation starts with the percent solids test and copper grade test from the slurry. Copper grade tests function is to compare the calculated head from experiment with copper grade test from the slurry. Cleaner - cleaner scavenger flotation perform with bulk flotation in a preliminary experiment with collector pax at dosages 3.25, 4.875, 6.5, 8.125, 9,75, and 13 g/t, and dithiophosphate dosages 3, 5, and 7 g/t. this experiment aims to observe the peak of copper recovery at different dosages. After obtaining the three dosages for each collector, a core experiment is conducted with three dosages with three dosages for each collector. In this preliminary experiment, we obtain pax dosage at 8.125, 9.75, and 13, dithiophosphate dosage at 1, 3,and 5 g/t. In this core experiment we obtained optimum copper recovery at each type of collector dosage from May 11th, 12th, 13th, and may 16th 2023. For pax 9,75 g/t, the copper recovery percentages were 77.93%, 73.39%, 78.87%, and 76.95%. on the other hand dithiophosphate 3 g/t in the amount of 73.35%, 68.81%, 71.55%, and 74.81%. From this research, we observed that increasing dosages of pax can increase copper recovery up to optimum point. However, after reaching the optimum dosages, copper recovery starts to drop, Similarly, for the dithiophosphate, we identified the optimum dosages, and after increasing the dosages, copper recovery also drop. This is becaused increasing the collector dosages can change surface properties of minerals. during this research, we found that collector pax have a faster kinetics compared to the dithiophosphate. this is due to the fact that pax, at alkaline condition can depress hydrophobic properties of pyrite, making it more selective to be injected in the first cleaner.
