Many individuals establish their own businesses, whether to generate income, continue a family business, or simply just for a hobby. However, running a business comes with various challenges and obstacles, and one of these is the motivation to sustain the business. SBM ITB is one of the educational institutions in Indonesia that offers business programs, including entrepreneurship. In building a business, there are several factors that contribute, and one of them is motivation. Motivation also plays a role in entrepreneurship students who are in the process of building their businesses, which affects the progress of their ventures. One case that occurred is with the company Lumna, where the business faced challenges in its development due to the influence of motivation on its progress business. The primary objective of this research is to understand the motivational factors that drive entrepreneurship students in running their businesses, using McClelland's Needs Theory. By comprehending and grasping the motivational factors that influence business success based on McClelland's theory, it is hoped that they can better understand each other and tailor their approaches in alignment with their respective motivations. EUsing a qualitative approach and a case study method, this research was conducted on entrepreneurship students from the 2023 cohort who are currently running their businesses. By conducting interviews with 11 students, each representing their respective businesses, this study ensured a comprehensive sample size to data saturation. The findings of this study indicate that a majority of the students have a need for power motivation. Based on the percentage of responses in the power motivation sub-variable, more than 50% yielded positive results, signifying an influence of power motivation needs. However, it is not precluded that other motivational needs also impact the business progress. text |
