Description
Summary:Area 9 is located at west flank of Duri field, Central Sumatra Basin that produces oil under steamflood process. This area is the most complex zone in Duri field that was intersected by many faults. Some faults in this area are still uncertain and have low visibility on conventional 3D seismic data. These faults may act as an impermeable barrier for steam distribution and oil drainage. Some patterns in Area 9 do not show steam response as predicted. Two observation wells that located updip from injectors in pattern 3N74 and 3T24 do not show any temperature response at all on reservoir Rindu1 and Pertama2 after injecting steam for more than 10 years. Existing reservoir properties model and wells correlation on both patterns show that both patterns are located at sweet spot area with porosity 35-40% and permeability 1500-3000 mD that allow the steam to be distributed to the entire pattern. Detailed analysis using integration of conventional seismic and seismic coherency (Edge™) in reservoirs zone shows that there are faults separating injectors and observation wells in pattern 3N74 and 3T24. These faults become new finding since the faults have not been identified in previous study. Surveillance and production data on those patterns indicate that these new faults are sealing. New log data from recent drilled well in pattern 3T24 (updip from existing injector) shows no steam indication in reservoir zone. This data also confirms that fault in this pattern is sealing. Integration analysis of 3D seismic coherency, reservoir properties model, surveillance and production data are powerful in identifying reservoir compartmentalization due to fault in the steamflood area. New finding in reservoir compartmentalization at Rindu1 and Pertama2 on pattern 3N74 and 3T24 becomes a significant finding to make proper heat management and development strategy on those two patterns in Area 9.
