Object of study is the Dalam 1 reservoirs, which is the innermost layer of a series of oil reservoirs in the Duri oil field. One attempt to optimize oil production from Dalam 1 reservoirs is by adjusts and distribute proper split of steam injection both laterally and vertically. However, based on survey data obtained, the volume of steam in the Dalam 1 reservoirs do not correspond to those targeted at a number of patterns in the study area. Sequence stratigraphy approach will provide an overview of the depositional facies distribution, and it is useful to find out and predict the distribution of potential reservoirs to improve oil recovery. This study had been carried out core descriptions, sequence stratigraphic and depositional facies correlation, and also facies and facies associations mapping in Dalam 1 reservoirs. The method to be used is chrono stratigraphic correlation and depositional facies correlation within the fourth order of sequences. Primary data used in this study is the rock core data and well logs, and the results of biostratigraphy analysis as secondary data. The results of this study are genetic interpretation, paleogeography, and distribution the group of Dalam 1 reservoirs into three geometry reservoir units based on genetic unit of facies associations that consist of tidal bar, tidal channels, and marine shale. Dalam 1 reservoirs were formed by tide dominated estuary and can be divided into Dalam 1A, Dalam 1B, and Dalam 1C reservoir. One of the study result applications is an alternative of injection strategies that the steam adjusted to the similarity of depositional facies in each pattern injection, so it can optimize the target injection. All the study results will be useful in the reservoir management such as EOR by steamflood injection, workover to existing wells and so that could improve and optimizing oil production, particularly in Duri field. text |
