Every country faces various aspects related to economic growth, including diverse economic factors, such as gender issues. Gender equality has become an increasingly relevant issue in today's society, including in Indonesia. Discrimination and gender inequality persist, leading to differential contributions between men and women in development that can impact economic growth. Based on data from the Gender Inequality Index (GII) in West Java Province from 2018 to 2022, it is evident that the GII of West Java is below the national GII, indicating a gender gap that needs to be addressed. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of gender equality on economic growth in West Java Province. This research employs content analysis to identify indicators and variables, drawing from literature reviews and previous studies, quantitative descriptive analysis to understand the gender equality situation, and quadrant analysis to examine the relationship between gender equality and economic growth using data from the West Java Central Bureau of Statistics. Lastly, panel data regression analysis is used to determine the impact of gender equality on economic growth using data from the content analysis and the West Java Central Bureau of Statistics. From the conducted analysis, the utilized indicators and variables in this study are the Life Expectancy Ratio (LER) for health indicators, the Average Schooling Duration Ratio (ASDR) for education indicators, the Per Capita Expenditure Ratio (PCER) for purchasing power parity indicators, and the real Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita as an indicator of economic growth. Furthermore, it is revealed that the gender equality condition in West Java Province is at a low level. Concerning the relationship between gender equality and economic growth in the 27 districts/cities of West Java Province, the majority fall into Quadrants III and IV, indicating that many districts/cities have gender equality and economic growth below the average. Moreover, regarding the analysis of the impact of gender equality on economic growth, the Average Schooling Duration Ratio (ASDR) is found to have a significant influence on economic growth according to the analysis, while the Per Capita Expenditure Ratio (PCER) does not show a significant influence. The results of this study can serve as a foundation for the government and other stakeholders to formulate more effective policies in achieving inclusive and sustainable gender equality and economic growth in West Java Province. text |

The significance of economic growth in economic development cannot be
ignored. Every country faces various aspects related to economic growth, including
diverse economic factors, such as gender issues. Gender equality has become an
increasingly relevant issue in today's society, including in Indonesia. Discrimination
and gender inequality persist, leading to differential contributions between men and
women in development that can impact economic growth.
Based on data from the Gender Inequality Index (GII) in West Java Province from
2018 to 2022, it is evident that the GII of West Java is below the national GII, indicating
a gender gap that needs to be addressed. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the
influence of gender equality on economic growth in West Java Province. This research
employs content analysis to identify indicators and variables, drawing from literature
reviews and previous studies, quantitative descriptive analysis to understand the
gender equality situation, and quadrant analysis to examine the relationship between
gender equality and economic growth using data from the West Java Central Bureau
of Statistics. Lastly, panel data regression analysis is used to determine the impact of
gender equality on economic growth using data from the content analysis and the West
Java Central Bureau of Statistics.
From the conducted analysis, the utilized indicators and variables in this study
are the Life Expectancy Ratio (LER) for health indicators, the Average Schooling
Duration Ratio (ASDR) for education indicators, the Per Capita Expenditure Ratio
(PCER) for purchasing power parity indicators, and the real Gross Regional Domestic
Product (GRDP) per capita as an indicator of economic growth. Furthermore, it is
revealed that the gender equality condition in West Java Province is at a low level.
Concerning the relationship between gender equality and economic growth in the 27
districts/cities of West Java Province, the majority fall into Quadrants III and IV,
indicating that many districts/cities have gender equality and economic growth below
the average. Moreover, regarding the analysis of the impact of gender equality on
economic growth, the Average Schooling Duration Ratio (ASDR) is found to have a
significant influence on economic growth according to the analysis, while the Per
Capita Expenditure Ratio (PCER) does not show a significant influence. The results of
this study can serve as a foundation for the government and other stakeholders to
formulate more effective policies in achieving inclusive and sustainable gender
equality and economic growth in West Java Province. |
