Kamal Muara is an urban fishing settlement located in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. This settlement is one of the fishing settlements that still survives to this day. Its location adjacent to the reclamation island which had an impact on Kamal's fishermen, such as lower fishing income that requires fishermen to sail further. The decline in the number of fishermen is also influenced by the low productive age working in the fisheries sector. This thesis attempts to design a facility that combines fishing and tourism activities with the aim of developing the area and providing economic benefits to the local community by creating a system that is both sustainable and also adaptive. Site was designed with the concept of urban ecotourism as a solution to renovate a degraded environment. Urban ecotourism considers three aspects in its design, which include environmental aspects, social aspects, and economic aspects. These three aspects form the basis for deepening the design concept. The design results are a manifestation of a strategy that can increase income and economic, social and ecological opportunities for coastal communities, as well as become an example for the embodiment of architectural designs. This design pays attention to reducing the negative impacts of development and exploiting the potential for tourist attractions that are in line with social aspects that strengthen the community. text |
