Several companies have implemented a technology-based approach to overcome fatigue levels, but this approach is considered less effective because it cannot know what factors cause fatigue to occur. This study aims to evaluate the level of fatigue of heavy equipment drivers in South Kalimantan coal mining companies. An online-based questionnaire was developed and distributed to all heavy equipment drivers at one of the South Kalimantan coal mining contractor companies. A total of 201 respondents answered and all of them were male with an average age of 28.80 ± 5.52 years, and work experience of 1.85 ± 2.43 years. The research results show that the driver's fatigue level is very high, especially when they work the night shift. Statistical results show that work environmental factors (noise, heat and vibration) as well as sleep duration and quality are correlated with driver fatigue levels. Other results show that more than 80% of workers sleep less than 7 hours before work, and their sleep quality tends to be poor, this is influenced by poor resting environmental conditions. Statistically, noise in the living area, hot room temperatures, vibrations, odors, and disturbance from roommates have a correlation with the duration and quality of workers' sleep. From this research it can be concluded that the majority of drivers have a tendency to have high levels of fatigue, this is caused by several factors, one of which is poor sleep duration and quality. Therefore, fatigue management interventions must target improvements in the factors that are the main cause of these factors. The results of this study provide an opportunity for further research to ensure the accuracy of the influence of related factors on driver fatigue levels. text
