Furthemore recently the Covid pandemic occurred almost all over the world with the main symptoms attacking the respiratory system. Air movement can affect indoor air quality, if indoor movement is mistake it will cause disease and affect the effectiveness of occupant movement in the space. The purpose of this study is to identify the effectiveness of a one-sided ventilation system in a bedroom with 3x2.2 meters size. This research methodology is semi-experimental with field measurements and continued simulation modeling with Ansys Fluent software on various variations of ventilation openings and interior variations to identify air flow movement and air exchange effectiveness followed by analysis to determine the effect of ventilation type, percentage of openings, location of ventilation openings and size ratio of ventilation on air movement and air exchange effectiveness. In this case, the bedroom in a residential house with a size of 3x2.2 meters is used as a case study which only has one side of the ventilation opening, the research was done with the most extreme condition with the window and the area all door closed, and then there are 7 types of ventilation variations and 3 types of interior variations with 21 simulated models in total. With various types of ventilation, the position of ventilation openings, the size ratio of the vents and the interior variations, it is found that the air movement and the value of air exchange effectiveness in the room are strongly influenced by the type of ventilation that has a vent at the bottom side. If the type of simulation model has ventilation at the bottom side, the value of air movement and the air exchange effectiveness will be greater. In addition, with further simulation of the addition of a fan variable in the room, indoor and outdoor air movement will be better with additional fan at the top of the room (F1), while the value of air exchange effectiveness is better with the addition of the fan at the back of the room (F2) reaching 15%. It is hoped that this research will be a consideration for architects in planning the buildings that are responsive to disease and become additional research literature related to air movement and air exchange effectiveness values in rooms with one-sided ventilation opening. text |
