Description
Summary:Gemah Field is located in the Jambi Sub-Basin. Drilling data indicate the presence of overpressure in this field. This study was carried out to determine the pore pressure magnitude in the Gemah Field, as pore pressure is an important aspect that should be considered in drilling. The analysis in this study includes the determination of the top overpressure and its generating mechanism, estimation of pore pressure magnitude, and the relationship between the geological conditions of the study area and the overpressure occurrence. The data used are from five wells. Pore pressure regime in the Gemah Field consist of hydrostatic and overpressure. The top overpressure is at depths of 4750-6000 feet below sea level. Overpressure is found in shale-dominated intervals of the Talang Akar Formation. The overpressure in this field is due to loading and non-loading mechanism, with overpressure magnitude ranging from 2000-3000 psi.
