Summary:As the time goes by, the population grew is in line with the increasing consumption of water, but sources of clean water are decreasing in terms of quality and quantity. Surakarta City is one of the cities in Central Java Province which has an area of 46,72 km2 with a population of 523.008 people. Surakarta City is also a city with the highest population density in Central Java Province. Therefore, the demand for drinking water in Surakarta City is predicted to continue to increase every year. This study examines the population's drinking water needs for household needs and the aspects that affect it, consisting of water sources, socio-economic, and water quality. The method used is a survey through questionnaires, interviews, and water sampling. Questionnaires distributed online and offline, filled out by 440 samples by simple random sampling method. Data processing was done with Microsoft excel and then analyzed using SPSS 25 software with non-parametric tests. The results showed that the average household drinking water use in Surakarta City was 159,20±48,52 liters/person/day. Aspects that have a relationship with water consumption are economic level, education level, gender, occupation, number of family members, PDAM water continuity, and water quality physical parameters.
