Summary: | The amount of e-waste is increasing due to the growing demand for electronic
products. In estimating the amount of e-waste generation in the household sector
and its potential in cities in Indonesia, research was conducted in Bogor City. This
research was conducted by collecting primary data through the distribution of
structured surveys and secondary data obtained by literature study. E-waste data
collection in the survey was conducted by approaching the most electronic
products owned by Bogor City residents. E-waste generation was calculated using
a simple delay model and the public willingness to participate and pay for e-waste
management was analyzed. The types of electronic products reviewed in this study
include mobile phones, fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, wall clocks, irons,
laptops, televisions, cameras, lamps, and game consoles. Based on 157
respondents with each respondent representing one household, the e-waste
generation from the household sector for native Bogor City residents in 2023 was
estimated at 5,007.8 tons/year and for immigrant residents in Bogor City was
estimated at 12 tons/year. In 2052, the generation is estimated to reach 14,398.6
tons/year for natives and 29.7 tons/year for migrants. In addition, a review of the
level of public willingness to participate and pay for the management of electronic
waste is also carried out. It was also found that respondent attributes have no
influence on the willingness to participate and pay for e-waste management. The
e-waste management recommendations given are the implementation of Extended
Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy, infrastructure development, informal sector
transformation, and increased community participation. |
