DESIGN OF REVEGETATION AREA FOR POST-MINING LAND WITH THE MULTI-USE FORESTRY CONCEPT AT RPT KELUBIR, PT PESONA KHATULISTIWA NUSANTARA, NORTH KALIMANTAN

The form of post-mining activities carried out by PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara is in the form of revegetation of land in OPD (out pit dump) 2A which is converted into forest as an effort to restore the ecosystem. INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/77725 The form of post-mining activities carried out by PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara is in the form of revegetation of land in OPD (out pit dump) 2A which is converted into forest as an effort to restore the ecosystem. The revegetation activities carried out by PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara are also one of the supports to support the implementation of the company's Post-Mining Plan (RPT) master plan. Apart from that, revegetation activities are also a form of ecosystem restoration effort carried out by PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara. To reach the ecosystem recovery stage up to the climax phase, analysis is needed regarding the threat of invasive alien species and also regarding the potential for natural regeneration that occurs in the revegetated forest. The aim of this research is to describe the natural vegetation community that grows in revegetated forests; analyze the presence of invasive species and their level of occupation of other vegetation; and carried out an analysis of the potential for natural regeneration of tree vegetation in Revegetation Forests in 2013. The results of vegetation analysis show that there are 27 species that grow naturally in revegetated forests and are dominated by pioneer tree species, namely Macaranga gigantea and Dillenia suffruticosa species. The similarity index between the revegetation area and the reference site area is still relatively low with only a similarity percentage of 28%, this indicates that the condition of the revegetation area and the reference site area is still relatively far apart when viewed from the composition of the vegetation. In addition, 4 invasive herbaceous species were found with a very high invasiveness risk index for the species Pteris vittata and Imperata cylindrica, while Clidemia hirta and Mikania mircantha were respectively included in the high and medium invasiveness categories. The impact of the invasiveness of these species can be seen in the percentage of successful natural regeneration of tree habitus which is only 57% where 9 out of 21 trees do not have a natural regeneration phase. text
