This condition causes higher human growth rates and at the same time carries out activities that produce waste. In Indonesia, especially Bali, this problem is very worrying. This area, which is famous for its natural beauty, has a serious waste problem. Inadequate infrastructure has resulted in a plastic emergency. Rivers are polluted by household waste that is thrown away. Mangrove forests are dying and being damaged due to the impact of plastic waste. Hundreds of illegal dump sites were found close to rivers in southern Bali. There are approximately 33,000 tonnes of plastic waste found in rivers every year. This condition is partly caused by people's behavior and habits regarding waste management. The lack of knowledge regarding this matter increases the rate of littering. Poor waste management ultimately results in the accumulation of waste in the organization's environment. The aim of designing this Waste Recycling and Processing Center is to overcome existing problems by creating a function similar to an attractive and lively urban space concept. So indirectly, this facility can accommodate the community in processing waste and also change existing habits. It is a challenge to create a waste processing facility in the middle of the city's activity center. Appropriate design is needed to change the public stigma regarding the function of facilities which are often considered harmful (dirty). The plan is designed to use recycled materials originating from the surrounding environment and waste collection centers. The purpose of the building is expected to be an example of implementing a circular economy in the area. And in the future, it can become a prototype for other regions in managing and handling waste problems. The method used in this design is an exploratory design method which carries out repeated stages to improvise and produce a design to answer the problem. In working on this thesis, studies were also carried out regarding related theories, regulations, and standards which became a reference in design. text |
