INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/77738 The Cirebon Coastal Area is experiencing a high sedimentation process causing rapid changes in the coastline. This research aims to determine coastline changes using Landsat satellite imagery from 1988 to 2022, determine the characteristics of coastal sediments using field measurements, analyze potential hazards and recommend appropriate mitigation of potential hazards in Cirebon Coastal area by utilizing remote sensing technology using Landsat 5 TM, Landsat 7 ETM+ and Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS satellite imagery and sediment data to determine grain size distribution using hydrometer analysis and to determine particle size and bottom composition using SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X–Ray Spectroscopy). Coastline changes in the Cirebon Coastal area are more dominated by accretion than abrasion. Sufficiently high supply of sediment from major rivers to coastal areas contributes more to land sedimentation processes than marine sedimentation (the influence of ocean currents and waves). The results of the hydrometer analysis showed that the sandy silt material with grain size distribution found at the study area was 32.2% sand with a grain size diameter of greater than 0.0625 mm, silt as much as 59.6% with a grain size diameter in the range of 0.0045 to. 0.0591 mm and clay as much as 8.2% with a grain size diameter in the range of 0.0013 to. 0.0037mm. The results of the SEM-EDS analysis show that the mineral constituents are silica minerals. The presence of silica minerals is thought to be closely related to materials of volcanic origin in the vicinity of the study site, namely Mount Ciremai which contains pyroxene andesite and high alumina basalt. Hazard analysis with the type of constituent material in the form of sandy mud in the Cirebon Coastal area includes sedimentation, tidal flooding, flooding and coastal erosion. Hazard mitigation is carried out in the form of soft protection, hard protection, hybrid systems, and proper spatial arrangement of research areas. In the Cirebon Coastal area, many settings apply using a hybrid system, which combines soft protection with hard protection. text |
