Description
Summary:Public Markets play an important role in the economic development of a city. The growth and development of the market become the center of the exchange of goods and services in an area and the city's economic activity. The market becomes a public place where people can form social interactions. The city of Cimahi, which is located adjacent to the capital city of West Java, Bandung City, is one of the locations with an ever-increasing level of economic growth and development due to an increase in population and progress in demand for domestic products. Expenditures for Cimahi City household needs reached 70.05% of the total GDP component. One of the factors that influences this is the existence of markets and various shops. The market is the main means of meeting basic needs that will never disappear, even though the market is currently facing competition from modern shopping centers. The purpose of this study is to design a market by adding creative economy facilities with the principles and approach of Creative Placemaking, by placing space for MSME creative industry players in Cimahi City, and by making PublicMarket towards a new paradigm with the existence of a creative economy in it. This enables the Public Market to become a place to shop based on creative culture and to be able to compete with modern shopping centers because, basically, the Public Market is one of the main means of increasing local revenue, promoting local traders, and producing local goods and services.
