Description
Summary:PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is Indonesian-American mining company that operates copper concentrate mining activities in Mimika Regency, Central Papua, Indonesia. To meet the material and goods requirement in the mining area, PTFI has an unique logistics system that one of which is managed by the Offisite Area Shipping and Export-Import Division. This division responsible to manage cargo and shipments (especially via sea freight) from Jakarta and Surabaya to Amamapare, Centra Papua. In carrying out management activities, this division also partners with the warehousing and transportation companies. However, the limitation of human resourc skills and the performance of company's ERP system in analyzing the operational data reports are considered inadequate to support the decision-making and monitoring. This research aims to address these issues by assisting decision-making and monitoring process for the Offisite Area Shipping and Export-Import Division through the design of an easily accessible cloud-based business intelligence (BI) dashboard system. This design utilizes operational data reports and BI tools that can be accessed by the division's local computer. The design of this cloud-based BI dashboard is implemented using Microsoft Power BI desktop tools with the Scrum method, which is part of the agile methodology. The choice of methodology and method are rooted in user needs, which demand intensive engagement from the user during the design process and necessitate direct implementation as soon as any of the BI dashboard's features are completed. The resulting design of the cloud-based BI dashboard system is then verified against both the user's functional and non-functional requirements. Furthermore, system validation is also conducted through interviews and final testing with users. The BI dashboard design that has been verified and validated is subsequently reviewed for its applicability in the decision-making and monitoring processes of Cargo and Shipment management, in order to propose a more efficient process.
