The development of space has become increasingly important in the context of community activities. This research explains how the habits of the community can shape and play a crucial role in the formation of space. The design focus is to create a space that is open, flexible, and serves multiple efficient functions, making it accessible at different times. The involvement of the local community is considered crucial in this design, as they are the main inhabitants of the area and have been residing there for a considerable period. Placemaking is adopted as a design tool, where the community and its interactions become the center of attention in shaping the space, with the expectation that it will revitalize the area and attract people to come and return. This design involves the active participation of the community and its interactions in the development of the area, making them feel a sense of ownership and contribution to its growth. Problem-solving scenarios are used to determine the spatial needs based on observations and data analysis from everyday users. Consequently, the area can be sustainable and comprehensively utilized. In addition to the scenarios, the design also applies criteria from the Project for Public Space diagram. The goal is for the Pasar Raya Kota Solok area to regain its status as a public space enjoyed and utilized by its users, by providing several additional functions besides its primary role as a market. This is expected to breathe new life into the area and act as a catalyst for the surrounding community.
