Both plant extracts in increasing doses inhibited contractions elicited by histamine stimulation on isolated guinea-pig. The aqueous soluble ethanol extract of Curcuma domestica Val. was found more effective (P < 0, 05) than its infusion. On the other hand, the difference in effectiveness between the infusion and the aqueous soluble ethanol extract of Elephantopus scaber L. was not signifficant (P;>0,005). In active anaphylaxis, both plant extracts protected the guinea pigs against antigen (horse serum) induced challenge. The effect was more pronounced in Elephantopus scaber L. treated animals (P<0,05). text |
