Description
Summary:Indonesia is a country with traditional medicine potential because it has abundant natural resources. Based on the results of various studies, Indonesian people have quite a high interest in traditional medicine. To achieve appropriate use, the public needs to be equipped with knowledge in the use of traditional medicine to obtain the desired therapeutic effect. This research was conducted to determine the description of community knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the use of traditional medicine, where it is hoped that the results of this research can become educational material for the community by the authorities, both government and others. This research was conducted by distributing validated questionnaires to people in Bandung City who have consumed or are currently consuming traditional medicine in the past 6 months. The analytical methods used are Mann-Whitney and Kruskal- Wallis to analyze significant differences between groups in each demographic characteristic, and Spearman's rank correlation method to analyze correlation between dimensions. The results showed that of the 387 respondents, there were 45 respondents (12%) had good knowledge regarding the use of traditional medicine, 229 respondents (59.2%) had a positive attitude, and 210 respondents (54.3%) had good practices in using traditional medicine. The significance value of gender for the practice dimension is p=0.016. The final educational significance values for the three dimensions respectively are p=0.016, p=0.034, and p=0.006. The correlation coefficient between the dimensions of knowledge and attitude is r=0.425, knowledge and practice r=0.295, and attitude and practice r=0.234. It was concluded that this research was dominated by people with less knowledge, positive attitudes, and good practices. Significant differences were only found in the gender category for the practice dimension, and the final education for the three dimensions. There is a positive correlation between the three dimensions with medium-weak strength.
