The pollution resulted in habitat destruction and decreased biodiversity including macrozoobenthos. This study aims to determine the quality of Akelamo River based on the diversity and distribution of macrozoobenthos. Sampling was conducted in February 2023 and continued analysis from March to May 2023. The data analysis consisted of 1). Calculation of CCME WQI index; 2). Analysis of distribution and diversity of macrozoobenthos species; 3). Statistical test of correlation between environmental parameters and abundance and species of macrozoobenthos. The water quality of Akelamo River based on CCME WQI index for all sampling points is in the range of 80.84 - 93.71 (good). The results showed as many as 12 genus of macrozoobenthos found in Akelamo River. Chironomus was found in almost all sampling points. Capniidae, Libellula, and Micrasema were only found at SPB 1, Stenelmis at SPB 4, Phanocerus at SPB 5, Gyrinus at SPB 6, and Macrobrachium at SPB 8. Macrozoobenthos abundance was highest at SPB 1, followed by SPB 5, 2 & 6, and 7 & 8, with SPB 4 being the lowest. Genus diversity was highest at SPB 1 (5 species), followed by SPB 3 (4 species), SPB 5 & 6 (3 species), and SPB 2, 4, 7, and 8 (2 species). Macrozoobenthos abundance was strongly negatively correlated with % sand and strongly negatively correlated with % silt. Macrozoobenthos species diversity was strongly negatively correlated with DO parameters and strongly positive with silt %. text |
