Summary: | One of the commodities that can be used for the post-coal mining land reclamation
process is citronella (Andropogon nardus) because the citronella plant is an adaptive
plant that can grow in less than optimal environmental conditions. The main product
of the citronella plant is essential oil which is obtained through the process of
distilling the leaves of the plant. This study aims to analyze differences in growth,
differences in biomass yield, and quality of essential oil from citronella plants in
post-coal mining land under Angsana (Pterocarpus indicus) shade. The seeds used
came from BALITTRO, namely the Sitrona 1 Agribun (v1), Sitrona 2 Agribun (v2),
and Seraiwangi 1 (v3) varieties. Growth observations were carried out 12 weeks
after planting (MST) with growth parameters: plant height, leaf width, and number
of tillers. Biomass sampling was carried out at 12 WAP by measuring wet weight
and dry weight to obtain data on water content and Root Canopy Ratio (NTA).
Testing of essential oil yield levels was carried out at the BALITTRO Lab, Bogor.
The results showed that in terms of plant height, all treatments did not differ,
however, the lemongrass variety 1 (v3)) was the tallest variety (133.94 cm)
compared to the other two varieties. In terms of leaf width and number of tillers,
the three varieties showed different results. The Sitrona 2 Agribun variety (v2) is
the variety that has the widest leaves (1.79 cm) compared to the other two varieties
and the highest number of tillers is v1 (20 tillers). The biomass results showed that
all varieties were not different, but
x
the largest biomass value was v2 (150.23 g). Based on lab tests, the largest yield of
essential oils was v2 (1.20%). |
