Summary: | Flood is one of the main issues concerning water resources that several regions in Indonesia are still facing up to this day. In a year, the urban area of Majalaya experiences at least 6 flood occurrences, with the most severe incident on February 22, 2018, covering an inundated area of approximately 5 km2. This flood is believed to have resulted from the inadequate capacity of drainage channels to accommodate the rainfall runoff. A study was conducted to analyze the rainfall using the Gumbel Method with a 5-year return period and the hourly rainfall distribution of the PSA 007 Method. The calculated design rainfall was 88.26 mm, with a peak hourly rainfall intensity of 39.72 mm/hour. Subsequently, an analysis of the capacity of the existing drainage channels was performed using the EPA SWMM 5.1 software. Based on the modeling information, an evaluation of the existing drainage channels was necessary. Channels that lacked sufficient capacity or overflowed would be redesigned using the Manning Method to adjust their dimensions. The modeling results identified 16 segments of open channels experiencing overflow. Thus, a dimension evaluation was carried out for these 16 channel segments using 7 types of U-Ditch constructions. The estimated budget required for these construction works amounted to Rp4,523,895,000.00. |
