Summary:In facing the advancements of the industry, one of the challenges for conventional lathe machines is their ability to exchange operational data information, such as spindle rotation and vibration conditions, in real-time and integrated with other lathe machines within a production system. Real-time observation of spindle rotation speed serves as a means for operators to ensure that the rotation of each lathe machine while in operation aligns with the provided settings. On the other hand, real-time observation of lathe machine vibration conditions provides a way for operators to ensure that the lathe machine operates without issues indicated by a significant increase in vibration. The integration of spindle rotation and vibration level data is necessary to determine the real-time operational status of each lathe machine (off, idle, and cutting). The real-time operational status of each lathe machine is used as a reference for recording machining progress and tracking machining history. Additionally, calculating the accumulated duration for each operational status can be developed as a reference for planning preventive maintenance activities, calculating tool wear percentages, and tool replacement plans. The integration system for observing lathe machine operations provides a solution to this challenge. This system consists of both hardware and software components. The hardware includes sensors and microcontrollers for data acquisition and processing. Meanwhile, the software consists of a database and a website for data storage and visualization. This system enables operators to observe the operations of each lathe machine simultaneously and in real-time, whether remotely or closely (on-site). The system also assists operators in gathering operational data history and calculating cumulative operation durations of the lathe machines.
