Summary: | Ceramic membrane has a wide range of applications in industry, because it has a good chemical, mechanical and thermal resistances compared to those of polymeric membranes. In this study, ZrSiO4 powder wt. 90 % were pressed via dry pressing technique at 4000 psi. The resulting green body were fired in the air atmosphere according to the following heating program : heating up to 1300 degrees C with a heating rate of 10 degrees C min-1 and 1 h of holding time. This procedure gave a ZrSiO4 ceramic membrane support with 1,08 mm in thickness, 23,82 mm in diameter and 4304,90 kg/m3 in density. ZrSiO4 ceramic membrane support was coated with V2O5. The resulting ZrSiO4-V2O5 were analysed for water permebility, permselectivity and SEM-EDX spectroscopy. ZrSiO4-V2O5 ceramic membrane has 90 % rejection of Pb2+. Characterization of the morphology with SEM and EDX-S on the surface of ZrSiO4-V2O5 ceramic membrane give information that ZrSiO4-V2O5 is a porous membrane and consits of zirconium (Zr), silicon (Si), alumunium (Al) and vanadium (V). |
