Candidiasis caused by Candida albicans can be treated by administering azole class antifungals, such as ketoconazole and fluconazole. The progressive emergence of fungal resistance to conventional antibiotics, side effects, as well as the cost of treatment, are considered major limitations for antifungal drugs. Therefore, potential, and reliable therapeutic alternatives are derived from medicinal plants, containing essential oils. Its use because they have lower toxicity, better biodegradability, and are environmentally friendly compared to conventional antibiotics. This study determined the activity of lavender oil (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.) and fennel oil (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) and the combination of the two oils against Candida albicans. Antifungal activity was determined by the preliminary method of disc diffusion, and obtained an inhibition diameter of lavender oil was 15.5 mm and fennel oil was 11.2 mm. Broth microdilution method was carried out and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of lavender oil and fennel oil were 0.5% v/v and 0.5% v/v, respectively. The minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) of lavender oil was 1% v/v and fennel oil was 0.5% v/v. Based on the checkerboard microdilution method results, the combination of lavender oil and fennel oil has additive properties. Lavender oil and fennel oil either used alone or in combination have the potential to be developed into Candida albicans antifungal drugs. text
