Summary: | Synthetic geotextiles are frequently utilized in coastal protection systems everywhere the world. Research indicates that in various types of construction, 50% of environmentally friendly materials may actually replace entirely of non-environmentally friendly material. This study examined eco-friendly materials as the main components of geobag sacks, which serve as temporary coastal protection constructions with a two-year lifespan for the protection of young mangrove vegetation.
Young mangrove trees are the main objective of coastal protection structures therefore factors like risk assessments during construction and the differences between the two types of materials, as well as their short- and long-term effects on the ecosystem, are examined.
Based on the study performed it was discovered that environmentally friendly materials utilized in coastal protection buildings have more and various kinds of risks due to the fact they remain under study and used rarely in construction. On a scale based on the risk value of the two types of material, synthetic geotextile material has a higher value due to its short- and long-term effects on the environment and ecosystem.
