Summary: | Patients with paralysis of the lower limbs need periodic rehabilitation to restore their ability to move. Rehabilitation activities are usually carried out in a hospital or rehabilitation center with the help of a doctor or therapist. However, this is a problem for patients who cannot come to the site. In research at the Biomechanics Laboratory of the Bandung Institute of Technology, a home-based lower extremity rehabilitation tool called the Rehab-Bot machine was developed. In this study, testing and development of Rehab-Bot was carried out to make it more ready for use by patients.
The research begins with prototype observation to determine the test parameters and development parameters. Then, the tests that will be carried out are testing the functionality aspect and testing the range of motion of the machine to the user's feet. The aspect of development that will be carried out is the creation of a Human Machine Interface (HMI) machine using Raspberry Pi 4 hardware and a touch screen monitor, as well as software in the form of a Graphical User Interface (GUI).
The results of testing the functional aspects show that most of the aspects have been met, except for comfort, active rehabilitation, and the mechanical construction of the machine which needs to be improved. The range of motion test results show that there is still a discrepancy between the range of motion of the engine and the legs caused by the improper arrangement of the rods. Finally, the results of the HMI engine development are quite good and fit as desired.
