INTERACTION DESIGN OF PET CARE APPLICATION ON MOBILE DEVICES WITH USER-CENTERED DESIGN APPROACH
There are a lot of pet care applications available on the Play Store and App Store. But some of them still fail to meet the usability standards. In some existing pet care applications, some usability aspects are still unfulfilled. According to a study, one of the pet care applications, called 11p...

But some of them still fail to meet the usability standards. In some existing pet care applications, some usability aspects are still unfulfilled. According to a study, one of the pet care applications, called 11pets app, still have usability issues which is unintuitive design. To address this problem, an interaction design prototype for the pet care application was developed using a user-centered design approach. Some people were interviewed to obtain more detailed insights into design issues, user behaviors, and user problems. These insights were later transformed into functional requirements for the application. Some indicators such as usability goals and user experience goals were used to measure the usability of the application. The usability goals for the application were effective to use and easy to learn, while the user experience goal for the application was helpful. To measure the overall usability achievement of the application, usability goals, and user experience goal, metrics such as the System Usability Scale (SUS), Single Easy Question (SEQ), Task Completion Rate, and Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) were used. Two iterations were done. From the second evaluation, SUS score was 83.45, SEQ scores for all tested tasks were above 5.5 on a 7-point scale, Task Completion Rate for all tasks were above 78%, and the IMI score was 5.9 in the value/usefulness sub-scale. Based on the results of these metrics, the design of the application has successfully met all usability goals and user experience goals. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the application's design can fix the usability issue that is unintuitive design. text |
