IMPROVEMENT OF DUOLINGO APPLICATION INTERACTION DESIGN WITH A USER-CENTERED DESIGN APPROACH

Duolingo is a language learning application that presents learning materials in a fun way. However, in its usage, there are several components that require improvement, both in terms of content and interaction design. Therefore, there is a need for improvement in the aspect of interaction design to enhance the utilization of Duolingo as a language learning tool and to improve user satisfaction. The results of the implemented improvements show that the majority of users experienced improvements in terms of comfort, satisfaction, and a greater preference for the application, especially with the introduction of specific design components. Some of the components that contributed the most to increasing user interest include Share Badges, Xp Boost, Learning Path, specialized illustration designs, and Mistake Collections. The advantages of the interaction design in this research include presenting a simpler yet informative interface, enhancing the visibility and layout of components for more efficient use by application users, and enriching the user experience by integrating cultural elements into the interaction design.
