Description
Summary:On November 21, 2022 an earthquake occurred which hit the Cianjur Regency area. Cugenang District is one of the areas that was quite badly affected. Around 14,673 residents of Cugenang District had to flee to community posts. The high number of evacuees gathered at the evacuation post locations has led to a doubling of the amount of waste generated, especially inorganic waste. Inorganic waste generation reaches 3.86 tons/day. However, from the survey results it was found that the waste handling system at the evacuation sites was not appropriate and optimal. Therefore, it is necessary to design a plan for handling inorganic waste in affected areas so that the waste produced does not become a vector for disease and does not cause other negative impacts. The waste management plan prepared includes sorting and containerization, collection, transportation and processing by taking into account the need for urgent and necessary waste handling infrastructure. There are three alternative technologies for processing inorganic waste with a thermal system that will be selected using the Simple Additive Weight (SAW) method by adjusting the design concept used, namely being responsive to emergency and sudden situations, sustainable and effective and appropriate. Plasma incinerator processing technology is the technology of choice to deal with the problem of inorganic waste in earthquake-affected areas in Kec. Cugenang with a reduction efficiency of system design reaches 90%.
