Description
Summary:The rapid development of technology highlights the growing importance of incorporating green IT concepts into organizations, including universities. As educational institutions heavily rely on information technology (IT) to facilitate teaching and learning activities, the escalating usage of IT can have detrimental effects on the environment if not managed appropriately. This research aims to develop a comprehensive framework to guide the implementation and evaluation of green IT strategies in higher education. The study begins by providing an overview of the current state and challenges of implementing green IT in universities. Existing frameworks related to green IT, particularly those applicable to higher education institutions, are examined. Subsequently, the development of the framework, named Green Information Technology for Higher Education Institution (GITHEI), is discussed. Finally, the design of a decision support system based on the selected framework is explored. The research outcomes are expected to provide insights and practical guidelines for other universities seeking to implement green IT and reduce their emissions footprint.
