Instilling conservation awareness to the general public has a great impact in educating about animals, their behavior, habitat, and most importantly, why they need to be conserved. In the midst of urban hustle and bustle, conservation areas stand as a home for the animals that reside in them, with of course a limited area, unlike the original habitat of the animals in the wild. Many failures have been encountered in significant animal welfare issues in zoos, raising questions about the national commitment to the care and management of animals in zoo conservation areas. This study aims to identify the criteria and indicators of national and international guidelines within the scope of the landscape immersion component as a conservation concept to see the gap between the two guidelines. The Director General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation Regulation No.P.6 Year 2011 as the current guideline in granting zoo accreditation was compared with AZA Accreditation Standard 2023 & Animal Care Manual in measuring the level of achievement of measures, models, and specifications in a comparative evaluation. The discrepancy between national and international guidelines is a reflection of the imperfections of zoos in Indonesia which is also supported by the factual conditions of zoos in Indonesia that have been accredited A and B by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry text
