Street food defines as foods and beverages prepared and / or sold by vendors in streets and other public places for immediate consumption or consumption at a later time without further processing or preparation. School children usually buy street food from food vendors around the school or in the school cafetaria. Presentation of street foods in schools often do not concem to hygiene, so the food is contaminated with germs and bacteria that can make children suffers diarrhea or intestinal worms. The aim of this study was to evaluate microbiological quality of PJAS and to examine pathogenic coliform bacteria tontained in PJAS. Methods: Analysis of coliform bacteria was devided by two methods : MPN coliform method and identification with API 20E kit and BBL Crystal E/NF. Results: The results showed that from the 210 samples tested, 53 samples (25.24%) were positive for coliform bacteria group, and after further identified using the API 20E kit and BBL Crystal E/NF, pathogenic bacteria are present in the sample were Enterobacter cloacae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella oxytoca and Klebsiella pneumonia. It can be concluded that microbiological quality of some PJAS were not meet specification, and API 20E and BBL Crystal E/NF can be used for further identification of coliform bacteria. text |
