Summary: | The Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) is one of the main production units and primary processes at PT. Kilang Pertamina Internasional Refinery Unit VI Balongan. There are issues caused by changes in the Processing Business Pattern of Crude Oil, which demand the refinery's ability to process Sour Crude. This type of crude contains relatively high impurities, Total Acid Number (TAN) of 0.3 Mg KOH/g, and a sulfur content of 1.5 wt%. This will have an impact on the remaining lifetime and mode of damage to equipment and pipeline in the Preheater System due to an increase in corrosion rate. Considering the background above, so that the problem statement of this work: “what is the root cause of the possible damage and the alternative solution to solve possible damage (leakage) in preheater system Crude Distillation Unit”. The objective is to solve the possibility of unplanned shutdown and Fatality problems caused by damage to the preheater system in the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU). Therefore, the continuity of feed supply for secondary processes and valuable product stock supply can be achieved to support business sustainability at Refinery Unit VI Balongan. The Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods are used to select the best solution among several alternative solutions.
