Description
Summary:Seminung Mountain is located southeast of Ranau Lake, near the border between Lampung and South Sumatra Province. Ranau Lake is located at Bukit Barisan and Semangko Zone, making it highly affected by geological structures. Segment of Sumatra Fault was found east of Seminung Mountain, based on Baturaja Sheet Geological Map. The study area was located east of Seminung Mountain, with a coordinate range of 386982 mE– 394972 mE and 9451928 mN – 9461020 mN in 48S UTM zone. There had been indication of geothermal prospect development in Ranau Lake and the surrounding areas. However, large-scale specific mapping of lithology and geological structures has not yet been conducted. This study aims to identify the geological, geomorphic, volcanostratigraphic, and structural conditions of the area. The geological history of the area can also be identified in this study. Both remote sensing analysis and field observation methods were utilized. Based on this study, the study area was divided into thirteen geomorphic units based on Landform classification. Eleven unofficial lithological units were determined through geomorphic and volcanostratigraphic analysis, and lithological distribution pattern in the study area. Four geological structures were found in the study area based on the presence of slickensides and striation. Volcanostratigraphy of the area consists of Hulusimpang Formation, Ranau Muda Crown, Kukusan Crown, and Seminung Crown. The geological history of the area was divided into three periods, consisting of Pre-Caldera, Syn-Caldera, and Post-Caldera Period.
