Summary: | Collaboration is a process of building agreement and aligning perspectives between several parties. Social collaboration is a form of collaboration among different social components with different roles and interests. Social collaboration will use the differences to enrich the decision making process in comprehending problems that people share together. In this study, social collaboration concept will be applied to creative clothing industry in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, which is the leading sector of creative industry in Bandung.
This study was conducted by using collaboration concept of Academician, Business, and Government (ABG) as an approach in maximizing value creation of creative clothing industry in Bandung, Indonesia. Soft System Methodology (SSM) is used as a method to identify the roles and values of ABG actors and develop activity connection between the actors. SSM is a method that conducting normative analysis that relying on logic sense and descriptive analysis that capture existing reality in the object of study. Subsequently, these two analyses are confronted in a debate process to produce the best recommendation. In this study, in-depth interview was used to 18 informants of ABG that was selected by the recommendation from various ABG actors. Afterwards, confirmation process and focus group was conducted to produce the best recommendation.
This study successfully described the existing situation of creative clothing industry and the collaboration relationship between the actors. This study also successfully identified the value, value network, and value proposition in developing collaboration for creative clothing industry. This study found that the ABG collaboration needs to be modified to adapt with the Bandung society situation. Community needs to be as one of the development pillar because of its crucial role in nurturing creativity and producing economic activity in a form of creative clothing industry. Hence, this study proposed the collaboration between Academician, Business, Government, and Community (ABGC) in a form of actors' activity model to develop creative clothing industry. Through this study, the researcher proposed recommendation to solve conflict and problem that had been identified.
