INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/78721 Despite the daily generation of 7.2 tons of waste in Jakarta, with a significant portion being plastic waste, businesses involved in recycling, particularly Recycling County, still face the challenge of obtaining an adequate supply of plastic waste for their production processes. This issue arises due to a need for more suppliers and quality supplies. Significant challenges persist in economic and social behavior regarding plastic waste collection. Additionally, the practice of waste management, specifically the segregation of plastic waste in Jakarta, remains uncommon. In fact, not only waste management plays a vital role in reducing landfill waste but also, it offers economic benefits to plastic waste suppliers, as collected plastic waste is the business primary source of recyclable materials, such as Recycling County. This research employs the planned behavior theory to investigate the main factors influencing public behavior towards plastic waste collection, ultimately creating a social innovation model to increase the number of plastic waste collectors and suppliers by encouraging individuals to view the plastic waste collection as a business opportunity. A qualitative method has been applied to gather data. The data were collected from 10 adults in the different area through interviews and observations. The theory of planned behavior serves as a framework for data analysis, enabling an understanding, explanation, and prediction of societal behavior. This theory guides the forms of the research's questions. It views an individual's decision to implement a particular behavior as influenced by attitude, social support, and perceived behavioral control. Therefore, this theory is well-suited for predicting the public's intention to engage in a specific behavior, such as collecting plastic waste and becoming a supplier. The findings involve analyzing and evaluating the main factors shaping the public's decision to segregate plastic waste and become plastic waste suppliers. Data analysis indicates that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control not only influence intentions individually but also have the potential to interact and influence each other. The study found a linkage between attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, collectively influencing the societal decision to adopt plastic waste management practices, mainly collecting plastic waste. Moreover, the findings, along with the theoretical framework and evidence from previous studies, contribute to the development of social innovation within society. The solution should focus on strategies that openly show friends, societies, and families supporting the implementation of waste management, specifically collecting and being plastic waste suppliers, such as education, collaborative partnership, and infrastructure development. text |
