PolymoQhic transformation can be caused by several things, one of them is influence of the organic solvent. In this research will be observed polymorphic transformation of nimodipine that mediated by ethanol solvent with several observated factors are ratios of nimodipine in ethanol solvent, stirring speeds, and stin-ing temperatures using crystal habits observation and melting point test with electrothermal. Melting point of the nimodipine was tested and nimodipine in ethanol with 1:10; 1: 12.5: 1:20; and 1:30 ratio (1 g in 10/12.5/20/30 mL) were strirred for 15, 30 and 60 minutes and without stirring condition at room temperature and stirring speed of 600 RPM. Stirring was also performed at 1:10 ratio with stiffing speed of 750 and 900 rpm for 15, 30, 60 minutes and temperature of 45 and 60 0 C for 15, 30, 60 minutes and without striring condition. Crystal habit and melting point of each sample were observed. The melting point of nimodipine raw material is 124,4-125,1 0 C. In observation of crystal habits, rectangular crystal form (rectangular prism) observed in all samples, but different in quantities. With longer stirring, more number of rectangular crystal form were observed. In melting point test, melting points decline in the influence of the nimodipine ratio in ethanol with 1:10; 1: 12.5; 1:20; 1:30 ratio sequentially is 116,1 0 C in the 60th minute; 117,90 C in the 15th minute; 117,80 C; and 117,60 C without stirring. The results of the melting point of a ratio of 1:10 at a temperature of 45 0 C decrease the melting point becomes 117,5 0 C in the 15th minute and at a temperature of 60 0 C decrease the melting point becomes 118, 1 0 C without stirring. The results of the melting point of a ratio 1:10 at stirring of 750 RPM and 900 RPM decrease the melting point becomes 117,70 C and 117S O C in the 15th minute. The greater ratio of the number of nimodipine in ethanol solvent or more amount of ethanol solvent is added, the higher stirring temperature, and the higher stilTing speed, then rate of nimodipine polymorph L.change becomes polymorph I assumed to be increase. text |
