It means that amplitude and frequency contents vary with time depending on the medium it propagates. Therefore, it is better to utilize the non-stationary approach of signal analysis such as S-Transform. The S-Transform method can give a time-frequency representation that is able to localize frequency components of signal in time domain.

The S-Transform was utilized to generate instantaneous spectral attributes, such as amplitude envelope, mean amplitude, and differential amplitude. These attributes may be used as tools for detecting hydrocarbon directly.

In this research, the S-Transform and several generated attributes was applied to Marmousi-2 synthetic data (Marmousi-2-2) in which gas and oil reservoirs are the targets. Meanwhile, field data of Aremania are of gas reservoir. Results of analysis show that there observed some amplitude frequency anomaly associated with the presence of hydrocarbon.
text
