Description
Summary:Supergene Lateritic Deposits have played an important role in the global mineral resources economy for over 50 years. With Ni lateritic deposits as one of the input for Global metal production all over the world, Ni lateritic has become the important mineral resources for Ni and ferronickel and 40 % of nickel production. On the one of the sequence in nickel mining operation, ore material separated by the dimension of the boulder itself, into fine ore and boulder waste. This material separated by a screening tools called Grizzly with the 20 cm wide as the size. It will caused the losses of mineable reserved with 10% estimation each dumping material to grizzly. This final study project has an order to consider the size of the grizzly with conducted Quality analyze of the relation between the dimension of the boulder and Ni grade changing. Volume of the freshrock and the thickness of weathering are the parameter which both has give influence to Ni grade of the boulder. The size of the boulder also according to the Cut-off Grade Value that has been determined by the company (1.8 % Ni). The result of this project has proved that 20 cm as the size of the grizzly hasn’t given the boulder with the minimum Ni grade, instead that the boulder with 26 cm size has reach the minimum value of Cut-off Grade. In order to maximize the size of the grizzly, and to minimize the mineable losses, Quality Analyze result in one equation to determine the size/dimension of the boulder by Ni grade that needed. This result will give the maximal value in order to increase the amount of mineable reserved tonnage and also can anticipate the differences of Ni grade between exploration data and production data in this Ni lateritic nickel mining operation. <br />
