Description
Summary:The East Java Basin is one of the hydrocarbon producing basins in Indonesia with overpressure occurrences. The study area location is in the Sampang Block which is located in this basin. This study was conducted to determine the characteristics of pore pressure and evaluate the presence of overpressure zones within Lidah Formation in five wells from Well SA-1 to SA-5. The data used consisted of wireline log data, drilling report, pressure test and mudweight, and vitrinite reflectance. The results of this study indicate that overpressure conditions are found in all wells generated by the loading mechanism with pore pressure values ranging from 460 to 7600 psi. The top of overpressure in Wells SA-1 and SA-3 is at depth of 595 to 600 m, whereas in Wells SA-2, SA-4, and SA-5 at depth of 320 to 380 m. The overpressure occurrence in the study area was controlled by the high rapid sedimentation and Rembang – Madura – Kangean – Sakala Zone (RMKS) which also influenced the sediment supply.
