Summary: | MRS field is one of oil and gas producing field located in Mahakam Block, Kutai
Basin, East Kalimantan Province. MRS Field has area of 40 km2
, which has been
producing for almost 50 years since 1975. Research has been done on Mentawir
Formation, part of Balikpapan Group on selected intervals. Those intervals are
R23-7, R26-5, R28-8, R29 which all of them belongs to lower and deep zone of MRS
Field. There was an indication of hydrocarbon especially gas at the southern flank
of MRS Field anticline. Research was carried out to do 3D geological modelling
including facies and petrophysical model, analyse reservoir connectivity, and
calculate initial gas in place at selected interval.
Core description analysis conducted at research’s interval helped with three
analogue wells outside of study area resulted in 12 litofasies that can be classified
as channel facies, crevasse splay/bar facies, and shale facies. Litofasies will be
used as modelling parameters for facies modelling. Interpretation of core
description and facies analysis showing deltaic environment specifically lower
delta plain to delta front environment. Seven hydrocarbon region can be identified
with different facies and contacts based on facies analysis and reservoir
connectivity analysis. There are four regions with channel facies, two regions with
crevasse splays facies, and one region with combination of both channel facies and
crevasse splay facies.
Estimated gas reserve 36 BCF at reservoirs intervals R23-7, 26 BCF at reservoirs
intervals R26-5, 23 BCF at reservoirs interval R28-8, and 36 BCF at reservoirs
intervals R29. |
