INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/78902 Background and Purpose: The relatively high use of antibiotics cause a variety of problems and is a global threat to health, especially of bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Antibiotic resistance and nosocomial infections are more prevalent in the Intensive care unit (ICU). Factors promoting antibiotic resistance in ICU include the use of broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents, the ease of croos-transmission and impairment of host defences admitted in patients to the ICU. The purpose of this research is to identify and assess the use of antibiotics in patients admitted to the ICU in one of the private hospitals in Bandung. Methods of research : An observational study with retrospective and concurrent data collection were carried out. These were then followed by presentation of descriptive data. Results: Based on the quantitative analysis of antibiotic use by sex men and women there is no difference, by the age of at most 65 years of age or older, most are based on the diagnosis of acute gastroenteritis infarction and stroke, the most widely used antibiotics in the ICU ceftriaxone, Based on the analysis qualitative study of rationality in mind the suitability of the use of antibiotics by disease indication 100%, based on the dosage of 100%, based on the time interval 92.31%, based on the length of time antibiotics 92.31% because antibiotic treatment of patients with the condition that the forced return of incomplete treatment, effects occur seftrikason synergistic combination with antibiotics meropenem, ceftazidime with levofloxacin, and metronidazole with levofloxacin 7.69% respectively. Major drug interactions occur on dexamethasone with levofloxacin (7.69%) and moderate in drug ceftriaxone with furosemide (7.69%). Conclusion: The use of antibiotics in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at one private hospital in Bandung most widely used antibiotic ceftriaxone. From the study of rationality in mind the suitability of use of antibiotics by disease indication 100%, based on the dose administration of 100%, based on the interval timing of 92.31%, based on the length of time the provision of 92.31%, an effect of the synergistic combination each to 7.69% on antibiotics seftrikason with meropenem, ceftazidime with levofloxacin, and metronidazole with levofloxacin, major interaction occurs to 7.69% in the dexamethasone drug interactions with levofloxacin and moderate 7.69% in the drug ceftriaxone with furosemide. text
