This research was aimed to study the effect of oil types and Crodafos CES@ on oxybenzone formulated in cream and emulgel. The cream and emulgel were formulated using paraffin and VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil), a mixture of Tween 80 and Span 80 as emulgator, various concentration of Crodafos CES@ and HPMC as gelling agent. Evaluated of formulations included SPF (Sun Protection Factor, SPF) in vitro through % transmitant measurement and in vivo testing of SPF values in rabbit before and after washed off using water and stability testing at 400C and 40C of storage for 30 days. All formulas of cream and emulgel showed the SPF values 6,00-6,13 in vitro test and SPF in vivo test 7,68. The cream and emulgel formulated with paraffin oil and Crodafos CES@ 5% gave the highest water resistance (76.8%, p<0.05) compared to that of cream and emulgel preparations using VCO (60.18%). Emulgel containing paraffin and Crodafos CES@ 5% showed better spreadibility and stable during storage for 30 days determinated through viscosity, pH, and oxybenzone concentration. text
