This study aims to determine the risky behavioral factors of motorcyclists in Indonesia that are associated with the risk of traffic accidents and examine the typical incident scenarios that contribute most to the number of PTW accidents on the road. This study was conducted in two sequential stages. The first stage was to collect naturalistic data based on the observed videos of the seven participants and quantify the number of observed risky events to assess the driving behavior of PTW users in Indonesia. The second stage was to validate the data by conducting in- person confrontation interviews about the events (near-accidents, loss of control, or crashes) experienced by the PTW users. A total of 2088 minutes or 34.8 hours of recorded data was collected and then processed and developed to produce the number, context and common scenarios that occurred in the risky situations experienced by participants. The results of the data processing by compiling the scenarios that occurred showed that in urban areas there were frequent near-miss scenarios when almost had an accident when another road user made an impromptu maneuver, which accounted for about 15.46% of the total 13 scenarios recorded. Based on the results obtained regarding the proportion of risky situations based on road type, urban areas are the most frequently experiencing risky situations at 56%. Naturalistic observations of PTW users showed that the most common SCE occurrence was Near Crash (55%), characterized by the driver almost losing control on damaged and slippery roads due to inadequate vehicle to pass the route, unskilled driving skills, and road conditions that are too severe to pass. The appearance of SCE was apparently influenced by driving duration but not by driving distance. The results showed that lack of hazard perception, education on proper driving and driving skills contributed to most of the events. text
