ANALYSIS OF THE APPLICABILITY OF THE ADVANCED STOP LINES (ASLS) TO SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION PERFORMANCE WITH MICROSIMULATION MODEL (CASE STUDY: SKA INTERSECTION IN PEKANBARU)

The road network in Pekanbaru City, the capital of Riau Province, is dominated by motorbikes, resulting in traffic problems such as road network congestion, especially at signalized intersections such as the SKA intersection. The research objective in this research is to analyze the performance of the SKA intersection by implementing Advance Stop Lines (ASLs) for motorcycle as a traffic management technology by separating motorcycles from other motorized vehicles. This study was carried out using a quantitative descriptive approach, with a model using PTV Vissim for micro analysis. ASLs is applied to two intersection arms using Box Type ASLs with dimensions of 8 meters, 10 meters and 12 meters. The performance indicators of the intersection that are measured are Vehicle Release Volume during the green phase, Queue Length, and Vehicle Delay Time. The survey in this research was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of the analysis of the application of the ASLs at the SKA Intersection show that based on the results of microsimulations using PTV Vissim, the performance indicators at one of the intersection arms, namely the eastern intersection arm of the SKA Intersection, increase by using the Box Type ASLs with a length of 10 meters with vehicle release volume increasing by 1.87%. queue length decreased by 0.15% and delay time decreased by 0.31%. The application of ASLs to both intersection arms has a different impacts on the performance indicators of the intersection arms. This proves that differences in the characteristics of the intersection arms will influence the effect of implementing Advance Stop Lines (ASLs) for vehicles at intersections. text
