Summary: | "GI" acupuncture is the result of the development of classical acupuncture which is
combined with western medical science based on massage. This acupuncture is still facing
related parameters to its effectiveness against various diseases. At the clinic where this
study done which also practice "GI" acupuncture, muscle pain cases including
fibromyalgia is one of the most common cases. Therefore this study conducted to evaluate
the effectiveness of "GI" acupuncture in the case of fibromyalgia in the clinic through
patient interviews using a Fibromyalgia Impact Quesstionire (FIQ) as a parameter. The
Interviews were conducted by asking the early & late condition after patients underwent
therapy "GI" acupuncture during the first month. The results indicate that the decrease in
FIQ scores between conditions before and after "GI" acupuncture. FIQ scores before the
acupuncture was recorded at (70.86 ± 11.83) and after acupuncture were recorded at
(44.97 ± 8.43) with an average percentage decline of 36.5% (p <0.05). This research also
conducted studies on the effectiveness of "GI" acupuncture accompanied by physical
exercise which is compared with therapy with "GI" acupuncture only. The average value
decrease in FIQ scores for therapy "GI" acupuncture accompanied by physical exercise
(29,97 ±9,36) while with "GI" acupuncture only amounted to (20,60 ±7,42) (p <0.05). It
can be concluded that therapy "GI" acupuncture significantly effective in reducing
symptoms of fibromyalgia and therapy "GI" acupuncture is accompanied by physical
exercise is more effective than single therapy of "GI" acupuncture in treating symptoms of
fibromyalgia.
