However, it is essential to acknowledge that ERA5 wind data is subject to potential errors due to its reanalysis nature. This research aims to evaluate and correct ERA5 wind speed data, a global atmospheric reanalysis product, utilizing SODAR observational data at a 100-meter height. The evaluation involves comparing ERA5 wind speed data with direct measurements from SODAR, a device based on the principles of sound wave reflection. The evaluation results indicate errors and underestimation in ERA5 wind speed, as evidenced by a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 2.14 and a Mean Error (ME) of -1.34. Despite these discrepancies, correction analyses using Linear Scaling (LS) and Quantile Mapping (QM) methods successfully approached the SODAR data. QM demonstrated superior performance compared to LS, as reflected in a smaller RMSE for QM-corrected ERA5 compared to LS-corrected ERA5 and an ME value approaching zero. However, QM-corrected ERA5 showed a slight decrease in correlation, albeit with only a marginal reduction. text |
