High melting point, high strength, creep resistance, and high temperature corrosion resistance are characters that required for this alloy. One of alloy that could suitable for this environment is intermetallic alloy. This study involves Fe-Ni-Al intermetallic alloy. The source of materials for Iron and Nickel were Ferronickel (Fe-Ni) produced by PT. Aneka Tambang at Pomalaa. Ferronickel consist of 73% Fe and 27% Ni. While pure Alumunium were available widely. This study focused to observe microstructure and microhardness on several alloy composition (10%, 20%, and 30% Al) after heat treatment with temperature and time variable and quench by oil. On microstructure, heat treated alloy for 24 hours showed less B phase and a phase than as cast alloy and more B phase for heat treatment for 48 hours. Meanwhile, microhardness test showed that the greater alumunium composition, the bigger hardness value of the alloy. Hardness charts show heat treated alloy has lower hardness value than as cast at heat treatment for 24 hours and has bigger hardness value at heat treatment for 48 hours.

text
